Outplacement

Leading Edge Consulting first provided an outplacement service to clients in 1994. It is the reverse side of the coin for a successful recruitment company but one which is a logical and valued extension of our skills. It lends another dimension to the phrase, Talent Management, that consultancies are so fond of.

As a consequence of our understanding of the recruitment business, we are ideally placed to advise individuals entering the market for, in some cases, the first time. Not infrequently, the client organisation in these circumstances has partnered with us in recruitment and so a mutual appreciation already exists. This makes establishing an understanding of the circumstances and the corporate culture that much easier. In general too, the company is underwriting the cost of the process as part of their outplacement package to the individuals concerned; our familiarity with the staff once again, helps to engender empathy more swiftly, facilitating a constructive relationship between counsellor and counselled, sooner.

We also accept outplacement briefs from individuals. Perhaps they have received an outplacement allowance from their employer; sometimes they just buy into the principle. In these instances we have a scale of services to cater for all budgets.

What do we do?

All our programmes are tailored to the needs of the group or people concerned. In general they involve group or individual guidance in the following:

Career review:

  • A process of self-analysis and personal exploration involving in depth interview, counselling and psychometric testing
  • Exploring career and life options: choices; new directions; thinking outside the box; life and the universe – but not as you've known it
  • Making informed decisions based on heightened awareness of self and careers and drawing upon disparate information sources
  • Devising an action plan and following through.

Practical marketing:

  • Identifying markets – obvious, not so obvious and hidden
  • The best way to approach vacancies
  • Coaching and guidance on CVs and presentation
  • Permanent or contract? How to go it alone
  • Interviews: rehearsal, dos and don'ts, the sub-texts and strategies for survival
  • Presentations, networking, social media – a guide to what you've been missing
  • Managing recruitment agencies and headhunters
  • Negotiation – getting the best deal and adapting to a new job
  • Or, self-employment – the realities and practical hurdles, a realist's guide.

Real Support:

We don't just advise you and set you adrift; we offer a substantive support service to provide you with coaching, moral support and encouragement every step of the way – if you like.

In addition we offer a library of resources, information and contacts, detailed corporate information not otherwise easily available, such as company reports, financials and media briefs; also access to daily vacancy updates and CV repositories to enable headhunters to find you.

Your consultant is on the end of the phone and will provide a sensitive sounding board for your experiences whether negative or positive.

We've been doing this a while but in a changing world we are always learning from our own but, more notably, your experiences too.
